Tool: Hitachi KC18DHL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion 2-Tool Combo Kit
What is that hellacious noise? It’s an Impact Driver, but it wasn’t the lightweight Hitachi WH18DSAL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Driver.
When my partner showed up a few years ago with a Hitachi heavy-duty cordless impact driver, to help assemble a large deck, I couldn’t believe the racket that thing produced. With the tightening of each of a hundred lags, carriage-bolts and hold-down nuts came the most horrendous clamor that I could only hope would immediately stop. I rest assured that I had no use for that cordless tool, hated the volume of it and felt all the rap-a-tapping was weak cordless mechanics attempting the job of my corded Porter-Cable …and for what?
That was a different tool and a different time …a time before I got my hands on the impact driver from his newer, smaller and lighter Hitachi KC18DHL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion 2-Tool Combo Kit. The impact driver from this combo kit is a tool with a completely different purpose, lighter, fast, long-lasting and… something I’ve just discovered. It’s really an impact screw-gun and … I need one. Tool: Bucket Boss Brand 2″ Liars Suspenders
Starting this article with the phrase: “Maybe I got a bad pair but…” might not be as bad as me saying: Don’t click the hyperlink Bucket Boss Brand Liars Suspenders to buy these suspenders.
These suspenders are not only crap, they are completely worthless. Despite the silly pattern and good sized clips the elastic bands aren’t designed to hold a more than a few ounces and the suspender wouldn’t adjust to fit this 5′-10″ carpenter.

Tool: Cold Steel Trail Boss Camp Axe
For thousand of years the Axe has been a quintessential tool for humankind. Once an integral part of every carpenter’s tool box, the axe is rich with symbolism, history and function. An Axe is a bad-ass tool in the hands of a carpenter and the Trail Boss was an instant favorite that I now carry in my truck day-to-day! Though I queued up nearly a dozen Fiskar and Gerber modern ceramic chopping tools before purchasing this traditional steel axe with it’s hickory handle, I am very happy with my purchase.
