Tool: Bosch 3238VS Jigsaw
Date of Service: Early 1990’s
The Bosch 3238VS has been in my toolbox forever. Not sure when this one was made but I’ve been using a Porter-Cable for over a decade and had this Bosch long before then.
Tool: Black&Decker 2750G – 4 1/2 inch Angle Grinder
no images were foundI’ve owned this Black and Decker Angle Grinder for a long time. Scary as the Lancelot Chain Carver is, I bought this 10,000 RPM Angle Grinder for woodwork. Retiring the Lancelot for my better health after a single project, I’ve used this B&D grinder for General Construction – metal and more metal.
Tool: Delta 17-940 25-Piece Sanding Drum Kit
I originally purchased the Delta Sanding Drum Kit for my drill press. Pop one of these on and lower the press and I’ve got the spindle sander I needed. So versatile this kit has proven I own two. I didn’t want to steal drums from my drill press to use in the rougher arena of my job.
[rating:4] – decent value, any longer one?
Tool: Makita 6820V Drywall Screwdriver
Date of Service: Early 1990’s
My Makita 6820V is a real noise maker that has zipped in tens of thousands of drywall screws and still seems the same as the day I bought it. Typically left in my tool storage, I bring this screw driver to the job when it’s necessary. This is a tool that I’ve owned for 15+ years and is still sold today. There’s a reason for that. (The 6820V has been discontinued but the Makita 6821 is strikingly similar)

Tool: Makita Model 2703 10″ Table Saw
A while back, my older Makita 8″ Table Saw up and died. There’s no functioning without a table saw on my job so I ran down to the store and bought the newer 2703 with the 10″ blade. I’ve been through quite a few ‘contractor grade’ table saws. These portable saws for use by professionals run almost 8 hours of the day; day after day. The Makita 2703 has long outlasted other saws I’ve owned and still rips all my jobsite material today.

Tool: Ridgid R4330 – 13″ Thickness Planer
no images were foundWith the task of milling a thousand feet of trim on a chilly December day I decided my thickness planer wasn’t cutting it so I picked up the Ridgid R4330 13″ Thickness Planer at my local Depot and set about milling a batch of Mahogany 1 x 6 into 9/16″ x 2 5/8″ pieces.
Tool: The Hitachi C8FSE 8-1/2-Inch Sliding Compound Miter Saw
Date of Service: May 1992
The Hitachi C8FB is a relic and was replaced by the C8FB2 in the 1990’s. I have ‘the original’ 8-1/2″ sliding compound miter saw.

Tool: Festool CT-33 – HEPA Dust Extractor
Date of Service: December 2008
no images were foundBelieve it or not, this is not my first vacuum costing over $500 but it is my first Festool. I spent a few months with an entire Festool system, ‘on loan’, for a furniture project that included lots of exposed edge plywood. A key component of that system was the automated dust collection so I’m starting my Festool collection from the ground up.
